Transport & Logistics safety update: HSE Covid inspections

Warehousing and Logistics industries have continued to operate throughout the Covid pandemic. Home delivery and ‘click and collect’ services have been essential work, and the demand on this sector is set to increase during the run up to Christmas. Keeping the logistics industry Covid Secure is a crucial task.

This week, The Health and Safety Executive and Local Authority Officers have said they will be specifically inspecting this industry to make sure businesses are Covid Secure. 

The HSE make it clear they are seeking to work with employers and to share good practice. However, if employers do not take “reasonable steps to control the risk and protect people from coronavirus,” The HSE will take action, including enforcement notices, stopping certain work practices, and even making possible prosecutions.
