We are proud to support four national charities across the year, Julia’s House, Crisis at Christmas, The Trussell Trust and this year we also donated to Circus Starr.
Supporting local and national causes is important to us at SML; corporate support in terms of money, time and products make a real difference in the community. This year, things are even tougher, with higher operating costs and reduced disposable income for many, so any support businesses can give to those in need will be very much appreciated.
Partnering with a trusted charity not only helps support all those who benefit from their efforts, but also provides motivation and satisfaction for your own staff. Often, fund raising encourages the development of new skills as well as improving communication, teamwork and time management.
Here’s a bit about the charities we support:
Julia’s House is a children’s hospice providing support for families across Dorset and Wiltshire, offering flexible, frequent, life-changing care. This includes practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threating condition, both in the family home, in the community and at their hospices.

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks helping to provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, whilst campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children. The Trussell Trust supports more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face.
Every year the charity Crisis at Christmas opens its doors to those across the UK who are homeless to offer much needed warmth, healthcare, food and company. Crisis treats everyone who comes for help as an individual and with respect; they are listened to and cared for. This is the start of specialist support that lasts all year round, offering skills training to help with employment enabling people to leave homelessness behind and find a safe and secure home and a better future.
This year we also donated to Circus Starr, a national charity that brings the fun of the fair to everyone, the Circus with a purpose.
Circus Starr provides entertainment for children with disabilities, families on low incomes, those facing challenges such as domestic violence, bereavement or who may be living with a life-limiting condition. Every child, whoever they are, is free to be themselves at a Circus Starr Show, a family event that brings everyone together.
Circus Starr tours the UK bringing the very best in circus talent from around the world and stage putting on 148 incredible, animal-free shows every year.
We are sure that all our chosen charities will make a difference to those they support and are proud to do our bit to help.
