Covid-19 update: Statutory Inspections – no derogation of legal requirements

Following the Government’s announcement of measures designed to contain the outbreak of COVID-19, the UK HSE and ROI HSA have confirmed there is no relaxation of the statutory obligations on employers to continue the thorough examinations of lifting, pressure and LEV equipment.

Inspection companies are prioritising examinations of equipment, following government guidance, which have designated certain industries as essential services.

For businesses that are continuing operations, it should be noted that your statutory examinations should be carried out as per the normal requirements, and it is the employer’s duty to ensure that these are completed.

Now would be a good time to check your due dates of equipment and ensure your inspections are planned in on time.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us, if you have any questions about this – we’re here to help.
